We chose to try induction for our new kitchen. I have used this cooktop for about six months and love it. It heats quickly and the highest setting, H, gets a big pot of water boiling in just a few minutes. The large burner on the right is very powerful but all the burners heat fast. When you remove a pot or pan, induction burners immediately stop heating and cool. I find this a nice safety feature of induction cooking.At the time we looked at appliances in summer 2010 there were very few good looking induction slide-in ranges, so we went with this separate induction cooktop installed in the granite counter with a GE Monogram oven installed underneath it. I verified with GE customer service online if the GE Monogram wall oven model we liked could be installed under this GE Profile induction model before we ordered. It took a couple of days but they emailed back that the two were compatible and could be installed together safely.This cooktop is all black and it's very minimalist and sleek, with no metal edges to trap dirt. It looks and operates great. Buying cookware for it is not hard. Anything that attracts a magnet or has iron in it will work. We did buy a nice Teflon induction fry pan and a large induction pot we got on the Internet. Some All-Clad sauce pans we already had work with induction. I haven't found any problems with the touch-controls yet. I use the control-lock feature all the time to disable the burner controls so I can clean the glass surface. If you are looking…

We installed the white on white cooktop in April 2009. It replaced a 40 year old Caloric cooktop. I also replaced the Caloric wall oven with a Maytag 24 inch oven. I had to cut another inch out width wise but it fit perfectly. The only thing we have to get used to is when you turn on the front burners, go ahead and turn them down because they flame on in a hurry. The cooktop was a floor model so we got it at a good price.

We have had a KitchenAid ceramic cooktop for several years and have had TWO of them crack on us due to (according to the repaiman) heating and cooling of the glass. The repairman sees this often and can tell it's from heating and cooling stress by the way the glass is cracked (impact cracks are quite different in appearance).This cooktop is REALLY expensive to replace. If you do take your chances on it, then get an extended warranty of 5+ years because yours may crack on you, too.We are living with a cracked top until we find a suitable DIFFERENT type replacement.The fan is really loud.One burner is WAY hotter than the others on the same setting. That burner burns food on Low and is useful for boiling water, but that's about it. Ugh. We gave it two stars because it does heat food and is fairly easy to clean.I recently emailed KitchenAid on the issues, but received no reply.Addendum: KitchenAid finally replied. They sent a link so that I could more easily find their web site in order to purchase more of their products. REALLY?

The product was delivered on time and in good condition. The only problem that I had was: the location of the gas connection created an interferance with the drawer below.

I have done spaghetti, cooked filling for a cherry pie and done some things in my new Fagor stainless pressure cooker. It is so fast, sensitive and accurate. I love the feature that turns off the burner when you remove the pan. I also love having no knobs to clean around. I am a little scared with the glass top and the danger of scratching it, but so far, so good. I had the old coil type burners before and am not used to this type surface. It is beautiful too. Sleak and shiny. I would highly recommend this product with my experiences so far. I have had it about 3 weeks and love it. It saves energy and cooks so fast.

This is a replacement unit for my old stove that was long past its prime. I love the look of this cook top and it's very easy to control and use, especially in comparison to my old cook top. It has a very sleek, nice look to it.The unit heats up very quickly and the controls are all on the side with little pictures to indicate which burner is on. There are little range lines near the controls to let you know where, within the lines you heating up, ie. a line for the range of high heat, etc. which makes it bullet proof as to how high you are heating the burners. I love this feature. The simmer feature on the lower right burner is wonderful for soup, stews and things you need to simmer. There is also a 'melt' range if you are heating up chocolate or cheese or things that need low heat.This is a great cook top and so far, I have no complaints with it whatsoever. It's easy to use and the guide that came with the book has hints to help keep it clean. So far, I've been able to keep it nice and clean with no problems, even tho' I did have some sticky stuff on one pan that transferred to the burner. I just cleaned it while it was warm and got it off easily.When installing this cook top, we did have to cut our counter about an inch on the side and top to fit it in, even though it was measured as the same size as our old one, but the old one was over 20 years old so I am not sure if the standard size has grown a little bit. This cooktop was beautiful and functional and we loved it until it exploded on us one morning at breakfast. The fire department determined it was a problem with the appliance.

My husband wanted to buy a new cooktop and I thought it was silly since our 20 year old cooktop was doing just fine, except for one burner wasn't working properly. He came home with this one and I thought it was a bit extravagant, but as long as it made him happy. I wasnt crazy about stainless steel because I thought it would be a nightmare to keep clean. WRONG on all counts! This cooktop is amazing!The 20000 BTU burner will boil water in a few minutes and on the lowest setting will keep a pot of chili simmering all day without hardly stirring. So easy to control temperatures and cleaning it is a breeze. The burners are solid cast iron, heavy....and it comes with a cast iron grill that replaces 2 burners if you wish. And it looks awesome...very classy. The knobs have a cool blue glow underneath them that shines when the gas is turned on...so there is no way you can leave a burner on too easily. Would recommend this cooktop to anyone!

This cook top replaces my 1985 Kitchenaid cook top so it's a huge step up. The elements heat up very fast but do take quite some time to cool down (not necessarily a problem, just an observation). The knobs feel heavy duty; they are definitely not plastic. It looks great in my kitchen and was easy to install! I have only been using it for about 2 weeks but it's been great so far!

The cooktop itseld is OK, but if you need to call GE for any type of service, be carefull. Instead of telling GE customers about locking the pets when GE calls to confirm a technician's visit, GE should tell them that if some part of their broken appliance will be open - it will cost an extra $100 on the top of $99.99 for a visit. We had a top removed from our cooktop to dry the water I spilled and burned the switch. The repair person who came today to fix it immediately told us that this will cost us $100 more for extra labor?! What extra labor? He would have to remove the top any way to replace that switch. So instead of $200, it will cost us $300. As a result GE lost the money we were ready to pay for repair and also GE lost us as customers, bc we are buying a new stove and we'll make sure never buy a GE any again.

We just updated our kitchen and went from electric to this gas cooktop. I really like the compact nature of this cooktop and the addition of a fifth burner. It heats anything very quickly. Maybe that's my problem -- many things I cook need to heat up, then simmer/braise at a lower temperature. Even the lower temperatures aren't low enough.. Example, I've tried to make rice several times since we've had this (since Christmas). It boils quickly, but when I reduce to the lowest possible simmer, it still overflows the pot. There has to be a solution for this - a simmer plate or something - but if they have that -- why wouldn't it be included in the package? I like the cooktop overall, but I really have to be careful with the heat. My split pea soup was on "low" and didn't stop boiling until I turned the gas off.

The reason we choose this particular model was that it seems to be the ONLY smooth cooktop of any major brand with downdraft exhaust and a bridge element.We've had our GE downdraft cooktop for a little over a week. Everything so far has been great. In another home we'd had a smooth cooktop before and really missed it. It heats quickly and has a lot of different heating element configurations for a 4-eye 30" cooktop. It has a melt setting, a small/large eye setting, and a bridge element for double burner griddles and grills.If I had one complaint at this point it would be that the knobs have a cheap look and feel. GE should just upgrade this model or make an optional model with electronic touch controls. We'd have that one if it existed.For those who have not had a glass cooktop before, yes, they are harder to keep looking clean, but being diligent on wiping up messes and spills quickly helps a lot. This one in particular is a little tougher to keep that pristine look because outside of the demarcations for the eyes there are no graphics. Most smooth cooktops have some sort of light speckling on the cooktop which helps to hide little smears and streaks.I will update my review if anything changes.

Looks great at the store. However, it has a fatal design flaw: the burners and the flame are far below the grate. While it is nice to have that area to catch spills, the effect is inefficient heating. Water takes forever to boil compared to our 16-year old GE electric cooktop (you know with the round, spiral electric heating element). Additionally, it heats up the room since the heat slips around the pot b/c the flame is below the grate. It doesn't make sense to me. I called Bosch and they were like: "yep, the flame is below the grate and there is nothing that can be done." If I hadn't spent so much time installing the thing, I would have taken it back even for a 4-burner.

I have not cooked on this yet, but have tested all the burners and everything is working correctly since it was installed yesterday. The one problem I see with this is that the HOT surface light turns off when the burners are still hot to the touch. Also, that light should be larger than the other lights...like my old cooktop so you can tell from a ways away that the cooktop is still hot. I'm sure the rest of the functions work well. I have mulling spices simmering on the warmer (center of stove) right now, and I like having that 5th burner just for simmering.I also like that when you press ON on a specific burner that if you do not also press 1-10, within 10 seconds....the burner does not come on. Added safety...and the three second LOCK button is also very helpful.I may purchase a cooktop stove cover if I can find a nice one, as I would like to be able to use the space and not be concerned with scratches when I'm not cooking.Merry Christmas...

Only two months old, rarely used and cooktop has serious problems:1. Burner stops working while in use, will not restart for 30-45 minutes2. Remove pan momentarily from burner to pour or serve & when you return it to burner it will not work for 30-45 minutes3. Using one burner and go to use 2nd burner in proximity and it will not work, flashes hot even though it was not used.just a few of the frustrations.What compounds these issues is that Whirlpool service is non-existant, they contract with these useless appliance repair places who do not know anything about the unit and also have terrible customer service. DSM rep actually broke the bracket on my unit. Mr. Appliance has not been heard from in 2 weeks since the service call when they were going to order the parts.When Whirlpool is called they say they have no control over the repair contractors that they cannot direct them to do anything. It is a vicious and impossible circle. Do not buy this unless you have boundless patience for poor quality and incompetence.
